1st step - I choose an A3 size layout for my poster. Then i draw a smaller border so that it won't use up whole A3 size board and will look nicer and more neat.
2nd step - This is the reference is choose. It is actually a cracked bottle. The reason why i choose this bottle is because i need to draw the cracks to represent the cracked ice floor for my poster. As usual, i used the Pentool to trace the cracks.
3rd step - This is the finishing of my trace. Minor editing by using the direct selection tool.
4th step - Next, i color it by using the Eyedropper tool. This is because i can choose the exact color on the bottle since the color of the bottle suit my blue poster theme.
5th step - Added a lighter blue for my background. i also re-color it by adjusting the opacity so that it won't be too contrast.
6th step - This part, i added some white color to make it more realistic.
7th step - I added shadow for the ice to make it more 3D. Actually is very simple, all you have to do is to draw the shape of the shadow you want, then by using the same color, just change the transparency to "multiple" and adjust the opacity =)
8th step - Another reference for my poster.
9th step - same as before, i used pentool t trace the ice.
10th step - Colored the ice. nothing much here.
11th step - finally, my background is done. this is actually the outcome of what i did just now.
12th step - next, i draw another smaller border inside. in this part, i used mainly the rectangle tool and the line segment tool. the rectangle tool i used it to make the background for my title and my description so that it will look more visible. line segment tool to draw some lines. for the font for my title and description, i used Letter Gothic STD and Segoe Print.
13th step - Finally, the last part, i added some extra description to alert my viewers. Letter Gothic STD for my font. The reason i don't use clipping mask is to in-case when i did something wrong, i can make some correction.
Extra info -
- used blue theme for my poster - cold, chilling, icy, represent ice
- used orange color to highlight some important words - orange and blue are complementary color, so it will look more contrast.
- white boxes and lines - some simple design for my poster, to make it look more attractive, wont feel bored looking at it.
